Legal Assistant - Family Law

Stratford Office

Monteith Ritsma Phillips is currently seeking an extraordinary candidate who is interested in a challenging and satisfying role as a Family Law Legal Assistant

To support firm and client success, you will:

  • Be a first point of contact for client calls;

  • Schedule client meetings;

  • Work closely with the lawyer on the file to build and maintain trusting client relationships and a high level of service;

  • Assist in the preparation of family law documentation including affidavits, applications, answers, conference briefs, financial statements and motions;

  • Grow and develop your specialized knowledge of family law;


To be the successful candidate you will have:

  • A minimum of three years of legal assistant experience in family law or strong interest to learn family law; 

  • Experience with drafting wills and power of attorney documents considered an asset;

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; editing, reviewing, drafting and proofreading of legal documents; 

  • Advanced knowledge of Divorcemate, Microsoft Office Suite and GhostPractice and/or PCLaw an asset;

  • An interest in taking your law career to the next level and support the success of an established, successful and dynamic law practice;

  • Strong organizational and time management and ability to take on accountability for deadlines and client service.
